I just wanted to say thanks for everyone's participation in the league, and I mean participation not just being a name. Many of you have been in the league since we first became the BDFL, including myself two others were there right from the very start. Regardless of how long you participated, we have had no turnover in ownership in several seasons and that says something.
I know our draft is a little slower than it could be if we instituted some sort of live draft with auto-draft, but I think a big part of the draw of our league is that despite the distance that separates us, the event is social. This season Kyle Amoroso is managing his team from college in Colorado, Scott Wood is in North Carolina and Kurt Albin and Mike Amoroso continue their stellar ownerships from Maryland. The rest of us are spread throughout Central PA.
We drafted this season in under 3 hours, which I think we matched one of our previous efforts before but this year was definitely the fastest draft. I believe we average around 3.5 hours but it is among the most enjoyable time of the season for me. At times it has been stressful when we have to fill in for someone or we lose communication with an owner due to the distance that separates us, but by the end I always feel like I had a great time.
I had a 'very' busy Summer and I have not put the time into the league that I did in previous seasons and I want to thank Gary and Alex for helping me out with the pre-draft tasks and thank all of you for being accessible. We all have more urgent matters than our fantasy football league but I think everyone would agree it is fun to escape into the world of the BDFL for a few hours prior to each season as well as a few minutes each week during the season. Thank you all, I really feel like we have the best league out there and the reason is because of the participants.
